Three adults and five kids were found shot to death inside a residence in a remote area of southwest Utah on Wednesday, according to officials.

According to a news statement from Enoch City officials, officers were called to a home in Enoch City, which is roughly 245 miles south of Salt Lake City, for a welfare check when they discovered the shooting death. The announcement stated that all of the deceased were discovered inside the house.

The investigation is still underway, but city officials stressed that there are no suspects still at large since they don’t see any current threats to the public.

The manager of Enoch City, Rob Dotson, stated Wednesday night that the passing of the family is being lamented by the locals.

The feelings that the locals are experiencing are difficult to put into words, according to Dotson. “We all know this family. Many of us have worked with them in the church, in the community, and at school.

“As a result, this community is struggling right now. They are experiencing agony and loss. They have many questions, which is normal, and are here to help, said Dotson.

Officials have not disclosed the dates of the killings or the circumstances surrounding the shootings. Additionally, they did not describe how the family members were related to one another.

Officials did not specify who or when requested the welfare check, and it is unknown what caused the call.

It will take time to figure out what happened inside the house, according to Dotson. He noted that investigators from Iron County, Enoch City, and Cedar City are collaborating to identify solutions.

“We won’t be able to understand the attitudes and beliefs of the people who were affected by this catastrophe. However, we can all pray that their families and the locals will realize what happened, most likely within a day or two, if not longer, Dotson said.

Spencer Cox, the governor of Utah, urged people to remember the Enoch community in their prayers.

Cox tweeted on Wednesday, “Our hearts go out to all those affected by this horrible violence.”

What a tragedy, wrote Utah Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson in a tweet expressing sympathy. Tonight, I’m praying for the people of Enoch.

Media contacted the Enoch City Police to get further details.
