Man charged with murder over nightclub stabbing
Following Akeem Francis-death Kerr’s in a nightclub, a man has been charged with murder.
The nightclub Valesha’s, also known as the Colliseum locally, on Newport Street in Walsall is where Mr. Francis-Kerr, 29, was tragically stabbed on Saturday.
Murder has been filed against 39-year-old Edward Wilson of Oldbury who was captured in South Yorkshire, according to West Midlands Police.
He was kept in custody and ordered to show up at Birmingham Magistrates Court later.
“We’ve kept Akeem’s family updated with the latest developments as we continue to support them during this distressing time,” a spokesman for the force said.
Despite efforts to save him, the 29-year-old died while being transported to the hospital after being stabbed shortly after 5:00 GMT, according to authorities.
The police stated their investigations were still ongoing and they were asking for information and cellphone footage.
Once Vision Leisure, who manages the venue, decided to provisionally suspend the license awaiting a thorough assessment, the nightclub has been temporarily closed.
