Saudi Arabia and Iran had decided to restore diplomatic ties and reopen embassies, Iran’s state media said on Friday.

According to the state-run news agency , the agreement was reached in China when the head of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, met with his Saudi counterpart, Mosaed bin Mohammad Al-Aiban.

There hasn’t been a word from Saudi Arabia yet.

After Iranian protestors broke into the Saudi embassy in Tehran in 2016 in response to the death of a Shi’ite preacher in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh suspended its ties with Tehran.

In recent years, players thought to be supported by Iran, particularly Yemen’s Houthi rebels, have attacked oil infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
