KABUL: Five people were killed and eleven others were injured after an aftershock struck a district in the earthquake-ravaged eastern province of Afghanistan on Friday, according to an official source.

Unfortunately, an earthquake struck the Gayan district of Paktika province around 10 a.m. local time Friday (0530 GMT), killing five people and injuring 11, according to the Afghan Ministry of Public Health on Twitter.
More than 1,000 people have been reported dead and more than 1,500 have been injured in Paktika and the adjoining Khost province after a magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Afghanistan on Wednesday morning, including the capital city of Kabul.

More than 1,600 homes were damaged in the Gayan district of Paktika, which was the worst-affected area.
