RAWALPINDI: During a meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyers, held on the orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), PTI founder Imran Khan criticized the recently passed 26th Constitutional Amendment, which grants parliamentarians the authority to select the Chief Justice of Pakistan, calling it an "attack on the Constitution."

After the meeting, PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry told journalists that the imprisoned former prime minister expressed strong disapproval of the amendment, describing it as a form of tyranny against the nation. Khan refrained from commenting on the appointment of Justice Yahya Afridi as the next Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Chaudhry further conveyed that Khan praised PTI workers and supporters for their sacrifices, stating that the party leader remains unafraid of the challenges he faces. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to ease Khan's hardships in detention, revealing that Khan is being held in a small six-by-eight-foot cell and subjected to psychological torture. An application will be filed in the IHC to address the conditions of his confinement.

Additionally, Chaudhry noted that Imran Khan has urged PTI leaders to take charge and lead from the front. PTI leader Shoaib Shaheen added that Khan was initially unaware of the passage of the 26th Amendment and the appointment of Justice Yahya. Upon being informed, Khan expressed satisfaction with the news of his wife, Bushra Bibi, securing bail.
