The Punjab government has announced a substantial hike in driving license fees across the province, including major cities like Lahore and Rawalpindi.
This marks the first fee revision in 20 years, with significant increases for both motorcycle and car licenses.
New Fee Structure
- Motorcycles: An annual fee of Rs930, plus a Rs50 test fee. This is a staggering 791% rise from the previous Rs60 for a 5-year license.
- Cars and Jeeps: An annual fee of Rs1,830, plus a Rs150 test fee. Previously, drivers paid Rs950 for a 5-year license.
The revised fees will come into effect on January 1, 2025, impacting vehicle owners across the province.
The sharp increases have sparked debate among citizens, as the government aims to modernize its licensing system and improve services.
