Opening up about her battle with trichotillomania, Amy Schumer thanks her fans for the love

Amy Schumer thanked her fans for their support following her recent interview, in which she opened up about her experience with trichotillomania. That she shares with her character Beth in her upcoming Hulu comedy Life & Beth. Trichotillomania is an obsessive-compulsive disorder in which people remove hair from various parts of their bodies. Causing significant distress in their lives.

Schumer revealed her “huge secret” to the public in the hopes of reducing the stigma surrounding the ailment. Which is thought to be a genetic condition. “I just don’t want to have a big mystery anymore,” Schumer said during the interview. “And I thought putting it in there would be good for me to ease some of my embarrassment and maybe, hopefully, help others alleviate some of theirs, too” she continued. Alluding to a moment in the Hulu series in which Beth is forced to wear a wig to school owing to her hair loss.

Followers hurried to show their support for the 40-year-old comedian, showering her with love. In response, Schumer shared a series of stills from the set of Life & Beth, expressing her appreciation to her fans. “Thanks for all the love and for everyone’s nice word and support on my trichotillomania,” she wrote in the post. “Big vulnerable vibes and tears of pleasure for the weight that’s been lifted,” she continued.

Schumer then praised the community, writing, “Thanks to the community for accepting me when I needed it.” She also offered a link to a nonprofit that can assist individuals who are battling the disorder.
