‘Dirty Dancing 2’ will be released in 2024

The sequel to the cult classic film “Dirty Dancing” will be released in theatres in the United States on February 9, 2024.

According to sources, Jennifer Grey, who starred in the first film, will reprise her role in the sequel, which will be directed by Jonathan Levine and based on a script he co-wrote with Elizabeth Chomko, Mikki Daughtry, and Tobias Iaconis.

Grey’s Frances “Baby” Houseman returns to Kellerman’s Resort for a narrative of summer, young romance, and dancing in the new film.

Grey was famously cast alongside Patrick Swayze, who portrayed dance teacher Johnny Castle, in the 1987 film.
The film became a cultural hit in the United States, grossing USD 218 million worldwide and earning an Oscar for best original song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” performed by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes.

In 2004, a prequel film starring Diego Luna and Romola Garai, titled “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights,” was released. Swayze, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2009, had a small part in the picture.
