If information that results in the conviction of those responsible for the attempted murder of one of Northern Ireland’s finest detectives John Caldwell, an additional reward of £150,000 is being offered.
Last month, John Caldwell was shot at a sports complex parking lot in Omagh, County Tyrone, in front of his young son.
He sustained catastrophic injuries and is still in the hospital in a critical condition.
Authorities think that the dissident republican organisation the New IRA was responsible for the shooting on February 22.
Eight people who were detained and interrogated by police in relation to the incident have all since been freed.
The additional prize for information about the attack was revealed by the independent charity Crimestoppers on Wednesday.
It had previously offered £20,000, but claimed that £150,000 had been raised thanks to anonymous contributors.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is “working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice,” according to Det Ch Supt Eamonn Corrigan.
He claimed that individuals responsible for the shooting had “a terrorist, organized criminal, or both” background.
“These people are quite clearly very dangerous and we need information to put them behind bars where they should be,” he said.
“That one little piece of information may close a gap that we have.”
Mr. Corrigan expressed his disappointment that no one had been prosecuted for the shooting in court.
He did, however, note that these kinds of inquiries “take time” and are “especially challenging”.
