India Attended G7 Summit

US ‘pleased’ That India Attended G7 Summit. According to John Kirby, a spokesman for the US Defense Department; during a press briefing; on the agenda of the eagerly anticipated global forum of the world’s richest economies; the US is “glad” that India is attending the G7 summit as discussions with New Delhi will cover; climate change, energy, and food security.
He underlined that India’s invitation to the Group of Seven (G7) was not intended to wean them off Russian oil; in the midst of the ongoing Moscow-Kyiv war; but rather as a result of their “deep and diverse” relations. Sullivan added that the G7 leaders want to unite; around a set of shared goals and efforts with India; rather than try to convince them to leave behind “other associations; or partnerships.”

There is plenty to talk with India; so we are happy that they are coming; added Kirby.

When asked if the US was seeing any movement on India’s part; to be more supportive of international efforts to hold Russian President Vladimir Putin; accountable for the war fought in Ukraine, the Pentagon spokesperson responded;
“We have a very deep and diverse partnership with them (India), even in the defence world.”
