A wallet that was returned to its owner in Kansas had been missing since the early 1970s, according to police.

A wallet was recently handed into the Great Bend Police Department by a member of the public, and police discovered numerous items inside, including a Social Security card and a driver’s license that had expired in 1974, according to a Facebook post by the department.

Officers were able to locate the wallet’s owner, who now resides in Lawrence, Kansas, according to the agency.

The wallet’s owner said he had misplaced it in the early 1970s.

According to the Facebook post, “He was tickled and shared with us that he made the wallet himself.”
