Google is introducing a minor but useful feature in Maps and Search to assist transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming people. Local listings can now specify whether or not a business provides gender-neutral restrooms. That information is available in the amenities portion of the about tab. As previously stated, it is also possible to determine whether a business identifies itself as a transgender safe space.
That isn’t the only new feature being added to Maps by Google. It’s also boosting the availability of bike-share information, which is an appropriate addition (after all, it’s World Bicycle Day on June 3rd). The function will be available in more than 100 other locations across 25 countries by the end of 2021, according to the business, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Portland, Miami, and Boston. You may use that feature to locate bike-sharing stations and discover how many bicycles are available at each one.
That’s a huge increase. When Google Maps first included bike-share information, it was available in 24 cities across 16 countries. The addition comes as more individuals seek bicycle directions and information from the company. According to Google, users are using Maps to go on bike rides that are, on average, 10% longer than those taken in 2020.
