'Holi Scene' from Pakistani drama receives public criticism

Highly popular Pakistani drama serial Samjhota, has captivated viewers who are eagerly following it on both television screens and YouTube.

The cast of the drama includes Javed Sheikh, Zain Baig, Shaista Lodhi, Shazeal Shoukat, Sidra Niazi, and Momina Iqbal, among others. Notably, each episode of Samjhota has received over a million views on YouTube, demonstrating the drama’s widespread appeal.

It is worth noting that Pakistani dramas are extremely popular around the world due to their compelling content, stellar casting, and high quality.

Aside from Pakistan, these dramas are popular in Nepal, India, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh.

One distinguishing feature that distinguishes Pakistani dramas from Indian dramas is their shorter duration of three to four months, allowing for a satisfying conclusion. In contrast, Indian dramas can last for years without a clear ending.

However, that the awkward scene in the drama’s 33rd episode drew some criticism from viewers. In that scene, Shazeal Shaukat and Zain Baig’s characters attend a college party where students are seen celebrating the Hindu festival of Holi by throwing colours at each other.

In the same scene, Zain Baig’s character makes a troubling statement, implying that if Shazeal’s character rejects his proposal, he will commit suicide.

Viewers expressed their displeasure as the video clip of this scene went viral on social media, with some questioning the promotion of Indian culture in Pakistani dramas. Others have speculated on the reasons for including such scenes.
