Kangaroo flees from a German circus and takes shelter in the Black Forest

Employees of a German circus are on the lookout for a kangaroo that has escaped for the second time in as many weeks and gone into the woods.

Skippy the Tasmanian kangaroo escaped from caretakers outside the town of St. Georgen, according to officials with Circus Alessio.

The kangaroo was spotted by drivers on a country road near the town, but when circus employees came, Skippy bolted into the Black Forest.

Workers from the circus are currently searching the woods for the escaped kangaroo in shifts, according to the circus.

Skippy is not thought to represent a threat to local residents or wildlife, therefore Konstanz police are not engaged in the search.

According to police spokesperson Jorg-Dieter Kluge told The media, “It’s not in danger in the wild and it doesn’t pose a threat so it’s not really relevant to us.”

He added, “The kangaroo can obtain the food it needs and will get along fine in the wilds of the Black Forest.”

The neighboring road, according to circus officials, is the greatest risk to Skippy, who was raised in captivity.

Skippy had already gotten away from the circus in Bad Durrheim after a dog jumped into his enclosure. The kangaroo was apprehended safely.
