Watch: Worker discover water well full of snakes

A utility worker in Iowa was performing repairs on defective water well when he discovered a pipe from the well coated with more than a half-dozen snakes.

The contractor pulled the pipe out from the defective well earlier this month, according to Mort’s Water Company in Latimer, and was welcomed by 8-9 bull snakes crawling across the structure.

The snakes likely slithered into the well “through the top of a poorly sealed well casing,” according to the company’s Facebook post.

The snakes were an unexpected sight, according to Mort’s Water Company, but they were not the source of the well’s problem.

The issue turned out to be a broken pump and motor, according to the company.

Bull snakes may reach lengths of up to 6 feet, although they are non-venomous and pose no harm to people.
