After the U.S. Supreme Court decided to reverse the important abortion case Roe v. Wade, police in Phoenix. Arizona police used tear gas to disperse a sizeable crowd of demonstrators outside the state’s Senate complex.

Republican Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers tweeted that “protesters threatened to break the AZ Senate doorway glass.”

Republican Kelly Townsend of Arizona stated that once lawmakers however told not to leave the premises.

Later, the protest however referred to as an attempted “insurrection” by the Republican Caucus of the State Senate.

Mark Brnovich, the state’s attorney general, declared that “this wasn’t a peaceful or legal protest.”

This wasn’t a peaceful or authorized demonstration, added Brnovich. The unlawful attempts to undermine our institutions and intimidate our authorities never tolerated.

The MPs claim that police then used tear gas to disperse the crowds and retake control of the structure.

Tear gas however used to disperse the crowd. The situation remained “extremely dangerous,” Rogers continued, emphasizing that the protests were still going on.

The previous statute however drafted when Arizona was still a territory. Additionally, violators are required to serve two to five years in prison.

Abortions required to save a woman’s life are the only exception to the ban.

Following the high court’s ruling, at least 13 states had implemented so-called “trigger legislation” that prohibits the majority of abortions.

After Roe v. Wade is overturned, these will go into force right away or within a few weeks.
