PHC approves protective bail of Omar Ayub for 35 days

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday granted protective bail of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub Khan for 35 days in various cases.

A two -member bench comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Abdul Fayyaz of the Peshawar High Court heard the petition filed for the protective bail and details of the cases.

During the hearing, Assistant Attorney General told the court that there was no inquiry against the Federal Investigation Agency’s Omar Ayub while Islamabad police had 8 FIRs.

Later, the court approved protective bail of PTI leader Omar Ayub for 35 days and ordered him to appear in the respective courts and dismissed the petition.

On the occasion, Omar Ayub said that more than 70 cases have been registered against him.

Earlier, Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Omar Ayub Khan, were arrested by police in Rawalpindi.

Others taken into custody alongside Ayub included Raja Basharat, Ahmed Chattha, and Azim-ud-Din. PTI lawyer Rana Mudassar stated that Ayub and Basharat were arrested at Adiala Jail’s check post, but the charges against them remain unclear.

The detained leaders are expected to appear before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) today as the party’s legal team contests their detention.
