KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) held rallies nationwide in solidarity with Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari against the diatribe by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP.
The Indian government has been fuming after Bilawal described Modi as the “Butcher of Gujarat” while responding to his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar at the United Nations after he accused Pakistan of perpetuating terrorism and sheltering Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
“I would like to remind Mr Jaishankar that Osama bin Laden is dead, but the butcher of Gujarat lives, and he is the prime minister (of India),” Bilawal responded. “He (Modi) was banned from entering this country (United States). These are the prime minister and foreign minister of RSS, which draws inspiration from Hitler’s SS,” he added.
The BJP held protests against Bilawal’s statement. The PPP called out the BJP and announced to hold protests and rallies in solidarity with the PPP chairsperson.
Addressing a rally outside the Karachi Press Club, Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani said the nation has come out against BJP and stands with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari against the Indian campaign.
He said the PPP has always presented the case of Kashmiris all over the world. He added that Bilawal Bhutto spoke the truth and revealed the facts while sitting in United States.
He used the occasion to slam PTI chairman Imran Khan and accused him of fulfilling Indian interests. “Imran said that if Modi wins, Kashmir issue will be solved. Modi ended the special status of Kashmir but Imran did nothing,” he claimed.
He accused Imran Khan of fulfilling Indian interests by destroying the economy and damaging the judiciary. He said Imran Khan is doing every work of the nation’s enemy.
Islamabad rally
In Islamabad, a rally was held to express solidarity with Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The rally under the leadership of PPP Secretariat in-charge Syed Sibt-ul-Haider Shah reached a public gathering in Malpur.
PPP Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari addressed the meeting and said the nation supports Bilawal for challenging Modi.
“This bold step could only be taken by Bhutto’s grandson. Bilawal’s statement has created anxiety in India. This has always or position and is Bilawal’s stance. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto defeated Indira Gandhi through negotiation and released 90,000 prisoners,” he added.
He assured Bilawal that the nation is united behind him. He said Bilawal calls Modi the ‘Butcher of Gujrat’ due to atrocities committed against the minorities in India. He said the PPP organizations are protesting against Modi and will support Bilawal.
Hyderabad, Larkana rally
In Hyderabad, a rally was held in support of Bilawal’s speech at the UN Security Council. The protesters gathered at Gharibabad Chowk and held banners against Modi.
The demonstrators said it is the truth that Bilawal called Modi as ‘Butcher of Gujrat’. They condemned the campaign against Bilawal’s remarks. The protestors said the nation stands in solidarity with Bilawal.
Another rally was taken out from Rawal House to Tandojam on the instructions of Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. The participants raised slogans against Modi and chanted in favour of Bilawal
In Larkana, hundreds of workers including PPP leaders Tariq Anwar Sial, Ejaz Leghari, Khair Muhammad Shaikh participated a rally.
They said Bilawal exposed the real face of India to the world. They raised slogans against extremist organizations in Indian and the atrocities of Modi.
The protestors said Bilawal exposed Indian reality in the UN and BJP thugs are roaming around in India and people are held hostage.
They said apart from Gujrat, the innocent people of Indian-occupied Kashmir are also being slaughtered. They said the people armed forces of Pakistan are with the Kashmiris and their struggle will continue till freedom.
