Threads now allows you to delete your account without affecting your Instagram account

Meta introduced Threads in early July, and within five days, it attracted 100 million users eager to explore the new text-centric platform. However, users soon discovered that once a Threads account was activated, the only way to delete it was by deleting the entire Instagram account. That has now changed.

Instagram‘s head, Adam Mosseri, declared the removal of this constraint. Users desiring to leave threads can navigate to Settings > Account > Delete or Deactivate Profile.

This provides the choice to either temporarily suspend or permanently delete the account, without any impact on their Instagram account.

Meta has recently altered the display of thread posts, making them visible on other Meta platforms like Facebook. The latest update allows users to control this visibility by going to Settings > Privacy.

It’s important to note that this adjustment applies solely to Facebook, and thread posts will still be visible on Instagram.
