Heatwave in Islamabad, Pakistan to Persist with Temperatures 4-6°C Above Average

KARACHI – Heatwave conditions are expected to develop in Karachi, Hyderabad, and most parts of Sindh starting May 21, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday. Day temperatures will gradually rise, with the heatwave becoming more intense from May 23 to May 27.

Temperatures in Sindh are predicted to be 4 to 6°C above normal from May 21 to May 23, and 6 to 8°C above normal from May 23 to May 27.

Weather Update
A shallow westerly wave is expected to affect the upper parts of Pakistan on the evening or night of May 16. This system may bring dust and thunderstorms, along with isolated rain, to Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, and Dadu on May 17 and May 18.

Farmers should adjust their crop management accordingly. The general public is advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight and to use water wisely.
