Bullet train derails in SW China, one killed, eight injured

BEIGING: As per China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., a bullet train derailed at around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province, killing one train driver and injuring eight others.

As the train was about to arrive at the Rongjiang station, two carriages of train D2809 from Guiyang to Guangzhou came off the rails due to mud and rockslides, according to the company.

One train conductor and seven passengers were among those injured. They’ve been receiving care at a nearby hospital.

As per the company, a total of 136 passengers have been evacuated.

The accident is currently being investigated.
