Swabi: One polio worker killed during the Anti-Polio Drive and another injured as team attacked.
According to details, the body of the deceased worker was shifted to the hospital for postmortem. Injured lady worker was shifted to Mardan Medical Complex in critical condition. Police surrounded the area and conducted an operation.
It should be noted that there have been numerous attacks on polio workers in the tribal areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Taking notice of the attack, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan directed the Inspector General of Police Sanaullah Abbasi to submit a report on the incident. He further directed the police to take strict action against the perpetrators of the attack.
According to Swabi’s District Police Officer (DPO) Imran Shahid, unidentified men opened fire at the polio team while they were on duty.
As a result of the firing, a lady health worker was killed while another was severely injured, the DPO said

Earlier in December, At least two policemen deployed on polio duty martyred in Lower Dir.
According to details, both deployed for security of Polio Team.
Lower Dir Deputy Superintendent Police Saeedur Rehman said the incident took place in Maidan area of the city.
He said policemen targeted on their way to basic health unit.
