A Proton X-70 car, gifted to Prime Minister Imran Khan by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Monday has been handed over to the Pakistani government in Islamabad.

The ceremony of handing over the keys was held at the Malaysian Embassy in the federal Capital.

The keys of the car were handed over to PM’s Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood by the Malaysian High Commissioner.

Mahathir Mohamad had announced the gift for Prime Minister Pakistan, Imran Khan during his visit to Pakistan earlier in August.

Mahathir Mohamad had also announced to set up an assembly plant of the vehicle manufacturer in Pakistan.

PROTON Holdings Berhad is a Malaysian automotive company and automobile corporation active in automobile design, manufacturing, distribution and sales.

Mahathir Bin Mohamad was appointed prime minister of Malaysia in 1981, retired in 2003, and returned to the office in 2018.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called on Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad in Kuala Lumpur.

Matters of Mutual interest, bilateral relations, challenges being faced by the Muslim Ummah and other issues were came under discussion in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, FM Qureshi said that Pakistan and Malaysia enjoyed brotherly relationship and stood by each other in difficult times.

Earlier in a day, Prime Minister Imran Khan met with Crown Prince of Bahrain HRH Salman Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and discussed bilateral relations.

Imran Khan visited Bahrain on the invitation of King Hammad Bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He will also be conferred with Bahrain’s highest civil award on the occasion.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will be accorded Guard of Honor.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will be the special guest on the occasion of Bahrain’s national day.

The exchange of views would cover the entire gamut of bilateral relations and matters pertaining to regional and international issues.

Pakistan and Bahrain are cooperating with each other in various fields, including trade, defense.
