Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza briefed the parliamentary committee on the current pandemic situation, saying that the country has seen a large number of tests as of late.
Dr. Zafar Mirza said that the government is working with great effort to acquire more N-95 masks.
He added that it will be mandatory for doctors to wear these masks while treating coronavirus affected patients.
The SAPM said that Pakistan will eventually begin production of N-95 masks and medical kits to meet all possible needs.
Dr. Zafar Mirza said that the lockdown on provincial and national level helped curb the spread of the disease.
“This time, 60% transmission cases are due to local contact,” he said.
He further added that people should take all precautionary measures and follow social-distancing directives.
There are 8,000 registered cases of the virus, he said, adding that in the next few days the government will implement the strategy for tracking-tests.
