Before entering the chamber, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated he had spoken to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Scholz is present in the German Bundestag for a question-and-answer session with lawmakers.
Following weeks of diplomatic pressure, Scholz said during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday that Germany will send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. This follows a federal government spokeswoman.
According to Scholz, Germany has provided the most weapon systems to Ukraine, followed by the US and the UK, and Germany will lead the way in supporting Ukraine.
He informed the parliament that every decision to transfer weapons systems had been discussed with allies.
