MUZAFFARABAD: The 18-member cabinet of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) took oath of office in a ceremony held Wednesday.
The oath was administered by Acting President Chaudhry Latif Akbar, while AJK Prime Minister Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore and other dignitaries attended the event.
In addition to the ministers, two advisors of the AJK government also took their oaths, administered by Prime Minister Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore.
The cabinet comprises 16 ministers and 2 advisors, marking the formal commencement of their responsibilities in the newly formed government.
The oath-taking ceremony was postponed yesterday due to incomplete consultations. Initially, only 10 ministers were proposed, but the plan was rejected by assembly members.
Following the oath, Prime Minister Rathore will assign departments to each cabinet member.
Former Prime Ministers Sardar Haji Yaqoob Khan and Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, members of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, top political leadership, civil bureaucracy, and local command were also present at the oath-taking ceremony, which shows the importance of the ceremony and the dignity of the democratic process.
