PESHAWAR: Armed men opened fire at polio teams killing police officer and a polio worker during anti-polio campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the police, the accused opened fire on a polio worker in Kala Khel Masti Khan, Bannu District, killing him while the accused escaped.
Police say that the deceased was going for polio worker duty, he was targeted on the way.
According to the police, the old enmity of the victim was also going on, further investigation of the incident is going on.
In separate incident, policeman was martyred and a polio worker was injured in the firing in Karak District.
According to the police, a polio team was also attacked in Shakar Khel area of Banda Dawood Shah of Karak.
A police officer on duty of the anti-polio team was martyred in the firing while a polio worker was also injured in the firing by the armed men and the attacker escaped.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi strongly condemned the attack on the polio team in Karak, expressing deep sorrow over the police officer’s death.

He directed authorities to ensure the injured worker receives the best medical care. He also sought a detailed report on the incident, describing the attacks as a conspiracy by anti-Pakistan and anti-humanitarian forces.
