Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has initiated the first phase of the Punjab Motorcycle Scheme 2024, aimed at distributing 20,000 bikes among students enrolled in degree colleges and universities.

In collaboration with the Bank of Punjab, the government plans to provide 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes through interest-free installment plans.

Initially, students from Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, and Lahore have the opportunity to apply for the Punjab Motorcycle Scheme until April 29. Interested students can submit their applications by visiting the provided link.

Under the scheme, financing for electric bikes is capped at Rs 250,000, while that for petrol bikes is limited to Rs 150,000. If a student opts for a bike priced higher than the specified limits, they must pay the additional cost upfront to the Bank of Punjab upon being declared successful. The Punjab government will not cover any amount exceeding the mentioned limits. Students must choose their bikes from the available options on the web portal.

This initiative aims to provide students with convenient transportation options, enabling them to travel to and from educational institutions more easily. It not only promotes accessibility but also contributes to the overall development and well-being of students across Punjab.
