LONDON: PPP Chairman and head of a high-level parliamentary delegation, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, welcomed the US State Department’s recent statement highlighting President Donald Trump’s willingness to help resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute during his time in office.

Addressing a news conference in London today alongside other delegation members, he said President Trump’s repeated statements show his desire to establish peace between Pakistan and India. However, he regretted that the Indian government is trying to sabotage the U.S. President’s noble peace initiative.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Pakistan seeks regional peace through dialogue and diplomacy. Bilawal stressed the importance of resolving all issues, particularly the Jammu and Kashmir dispute—through peaceful negotiations. According to him, establishing peace between Pakistan and India aligns with the broader interests of the international community.

He said India builds its narrative on lies and propaganda, while Pakistan bases its stance on truth and peace. The PPP Chairman accused India of using terrorism as a tool of its foreign policy and pointed out that it has targeted Sikh activists across the world.

The United States hinted that President Donald Trump could serve as a mediator in the ongoing Kashmir conflict between Pakistan and India, following a deadly attack in Pahalgam that heightened tensions between the two nations.

During a State Department briefing, spokesperson Tammy Bruce highlighted President Trump’s potential role, stating that he consistently takes steps to resolve long-standing conflicts between countries. She said, “It shouldn’t surprise anyone that he wants to manage something like this. He has repeatedly brought parties to the table for conversations once thought impossible, proving himself to be uniquely capable in facilitating dialogue.”

A Pakistani parliamentary delegation, led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, met with U.S. officials last week, including Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker, to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional peace.
