Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, has strongly opposed unilateral actions that undermine peace and stability in Yemen, while reaffirming Pakistan’s support for a Yemeni-led political process to resolve the conflict.

Addressing the United Nations Security Council, Ambassador Iftikhar welcomed ongoing efforts aimed at regional dialogue and reconciliation, emphasizing that sustainable peace in Yemen can only be achieved through inclusive and comprehensive negotiations led by Yemenis themselves.

He welcomed the Presidential Leadership Council’s (PLC) call for comprehensive negotiations in Riyadh, stating that an inclusive political solution remains the only viable path forward. The Pakistani envoy also strongly condemned the illegal seizure of United Nations offices and assets, highlighting that such actions further exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in a country where millions are in urgent need of assistance.

Ambassador Iftikhar stressed that the Security Council must act with unity and responsibility to fulfill its role in restoring peace and stability in Yemen. He expressed Pakistan’s full support for Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic initiatives and appreciated the constructive efforts of Oman and the United Arab Emirates in facilitating dialogue.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding position, he reiterated his country’s unwavering solidarity with the government and people of Yemen, and called for renewed international commitment to end the conflict and address the humanitarian suffering.
