FAISALABAD:  A tragic traffic accident on Faisalabad Road plunged the area into mourning after a passenger van collided head-on with a bus carrying college students, leaving at least 14 people dead and several others injured.

According to rescue officials, nine people lost their lives on the spot, while the critically injured were rushed to the DHQ Hospital.

Five more victims later succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Several of the injured remain in critical condition.

The rescue teams responded swiftly, shifting the bodies and injured to nearby hospitals, while traffic on the road remained suspended for some time following the incident.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

Following the tragic collision on Jhang-Faisalabad Road, Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar Bhinder and DPO Bilal Iftikhar Kayani visited the scene to oversee rescue operations and ensure prompt medical treatment for the injured.

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred due to over-speeding. Rescue 1122 teams provided initial medical aid on-site before transporting the critically injured to the DHQ Hospital.

District officials expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the accident and assured that measures would be taken to assist the victims and their families.
