Dr. Omer Adil shares critical perspective on Jannat Mirza’s social media following

  • Jannat Mirza, Pakistan's most-followed TikToker, has a large audience on Instagram and other social platforms.
  • She received multiple acting offers, including roles in hit dramas like Parizaad and Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay.
  • She made her film debut in Syed Noor’s Tere Bajre Di Rakhi, which failed at the box office.
Jannat Mirza holds the title of Pakistan’s most-followed TikToker. She also commands a massive audience on Instagram and other social platforms. Her widespread popularity has made her a household name across the country. Thanks to her social media stardom, she received multiple acting offers, including roles in hit dramas like Parizaad and Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay, which she chose to turn down. She eventually made her film debut in Syed Noor’s Tere Bajre Di Rakhi.

Mirza’s film Tere Bajre Di Rakhi failed at the box office, and she hasn’t taken on any acting projects since. The film’s poor performance sparked widespread debate, and now Dr. Omer Adil has joined the conversation by sharing his opinion.

Dr. Omer Adil appeared as a guest on Hina Niazi’s show, where the discussion turned to talent versus social media following. He remarked that the failure of Tere Bajre Di Rakhi clearly shows that the "bongiyan"—antics that gain popularity on TikTok—don’t translate to success in cinema. He expressed relief that the myth of follower count equating to talent is starting to break. Dr. Adil further stated that content easily accessible at home doesn’t motivate audiences to visit the cinema.

This is his opinion:
