Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has addressed the public reaction to a viral scene from her latest film Nilofar, co-starring Fawad Khan.
In the film, Mahira portrays a visually impaired girl, and one emotionally intense scene showing her character crying and harming herself quickly went viral on social media.
Following the clip’s circulation, several users criticized Mahira’s performance. Speaking at a recent event, the actress acknowledged the virality of her work, saying, “I know that whether I do something or not, everything I do ends up going viral.”
She added, “I have seen the clip that is gaining so much attention. The truth is, anything I do—whether I act or stay quiet becomes viral. Sometimes, it can be mentally exhausting dealing with all this attention.”
Mahira emphasized that she does not take criticism personally but admitted that the frenzy surrounding viral clips can be draining. She further explained, “Nilofar was a challenging role, and I tried to portray it with complete honesty and sensitivity.”
