Scottie Scheffler won the maiden Masters title with a three-shot triumph at Augusta National.

This marks his fourth victory in as many months after winning the WM Phoenix Open, Arnold Palmer Invitational, and WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

The 25-year-old’s three-stroke overnight lead was sliced to one before he temporarily surged five strokes ahead of the competition on the 72nd hole, with Scheffler’s winning margin only reduced when he made a four-putt double-bogey.

Scheffler finished three strokes ahead of Rory McIlroy (who shot a round-of-the-day 64) and Cameron Smith of Australia, with the sporting world praising the world’s most in-form player for becoming a first-time major victor.

Former golfer Jack Nicklaus, on his Twitter handle, lauded Scottie for his first Masters win.
