Manchester City reached the Champions League final for the first time in their history after Riyad Mahrez doubled the 2-0 victory (4-1 in total) against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) with 10 players at the Etihad stadium.
Kevin De Bruyne started in front as a fake striker, with Phil Foden and Algerian Riyad Mahrez leaning on their wings. Neymar started at PSG, while player Kylian Mbappe arrived on the bench only after passing a final physical test.
PSG won a gift! The referee awarded him a penalty after 27 minutes, which was finished off by Oleksandr Zinchenko. After some elegant moves through the middle, City opened the scoring to 0 – 1. De Bruyne was the scorer of 0 – 1. Mahrez was his replacement.
PEP 💬 My first word is for the players who didn’t play today. I am so sorry for them because they have been fantastic all season and I know how tough it is not to play. The second word is for our owner and chairman in Abu Dhabi and all the people in other departments. pic.twitter.com/TwaeCEJDAk
