NZ vs PAK: Kiwis to be without Williamson in third T20 against Pakistan

• Kane Williamson is unlikely to play the remaining T20s.
• His focus will be on the upcoming Test series against South Africa.
• Tim Seifert is expected to replace Williamson.

Coach Gary Stead stated on Monday that Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, is unlikely to play any more in the series after sustaining a hamstring injury in the second Twenty20 match against Pakistan.

With the first Test against South Africa less than three weeks away, Stead indicated his star batter would likely miss the remaining two matches as well. Williamson was already scheduled to miss the third game on Wednesday.

"With the test matches so close as well and in the big scheme of things (they are) a higher priority I think we'll try and make sure he's right for that," Stead said.

In Sunday's second match, which his team won by 21 runs, Williamson scored 26 off 15 before he was forced to retire due to injury. New Zealand now leads the five-match series 2-0.

Williamson is anticipated to be replaced in the batting order by Tim Seifert, who Stead said was always scheduled to take Devon Conway's place as wicketkeeper at some point during the series.
