Pakistani weightlifter Kashif Rehan wins gold at World Powerlifting Championship

Quetta: Pakistani weightlifter Kashif Rehan, who traveled to Sri Lanka using borrowed money, has secured the gold medal at the World Powerlifting Championship, bringing glory to the country.
Kashif Rehan, lifted a combined total of 310 kilograms, including a 160 kg deadlift and a 150 kg squat, to claim the top position. The competition saw participation from over 350 weightlifters representing different countries.

The championship was held in Colombo from November 27 to 30. Previously, Kashif Rehan had also earned a gold medal at the Asian Masters Weightlifting Championship.

Despite his success in Qatar at the Asian Masters event, Rehan faced financial difficulties back home in Quetta. He had to borrow funds to cover expenses for the Sri Lanka competition.

Kashif revealed that even for the Doha event, he did not receive government support and had to sell his car to participate. His achievements underscore his perseverance, dedication, and commitment to representing Pakistan at the highest level.
