Karachi: A horrific blaze swept through a slum settlement in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Block 12, late last night, turning over 200 makeshift homes (shanties) and many motorbikes into ash. The fire started suddenly in the shanty town and quickly grew, swallowing dozens of homes in minutes. Fire Brigade teams fought the massive fire for several hours before finally bringing it under control.
