CUPERTINO: Apple is reportedly developing a striking new red finish for its highly anticipated iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, with the colour expected to serve as the signature shade for the company’s 2026 Pro lineup.
According to multiple industry rumours, the iPhone 18 series is scheduled for launch in September, with the Pro and Pro Max variants likely to take centre stage at the annual release event.
Reports suggest that the deep red finish is being positioned as the headline colour for this year’s Pro models, similar to how Cosmic Orange represented the iPhone 17 Pro series in 2025.
The Cosmic Orange variant reportedly gained strong traction in markets such as China, where some consumers compared its tone to the signature aesthetic of Hermès. Apple is now believed to be aiming to build on that momentum with an even more eye-catching red design.
While speculation has also pointed to potential purple and brown options, insiders suggest these may simply be variations or tonal shifts of the same red concept rather than entirely distinct colours. It remains uncertain whether Apple will continue offering the Cosmic Orange finish alongside the new red variant.
In contrast, Apple’s long-rumoured foldable device — often referred to as the iPhone Fold — is expected to adopt a more restrained design language. Instead of bold, experimental shades, the foldable model may debut in more “utilitarian” colours, including dark grey, black, silver or white.
Industry sources indicate that both the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and the foldable iPhone could be unveiled together during Apple’s September launch event, marking one of the company’s most closely watched product announcements in recent years.
