KYIV: A Russian missile attacked a nine-story apartment building near the Ukrainian port of Odesa on Friday morning, killing at least 14 people and injuring 30 others, according to the Ukrainian emergency ministry.

The missile impacted the building in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi at approximately 1:00 a.m. (22:00 GMT on Thursday), according to a ministry statement. In addition, it ignited a fire in the adjacent retail building.

Serhiy Bratchuk, the spokesman for the Odesa regional government, told Ukrainian state television that a rescue operation was underway while some individuals remained buried under the rubble following the partial collapse of the structure.

As per Bratchuk, another missile struck a resort complex, injuring multiple people.
