During a crucial time in his life, Prince Harry saw himself as just another person. The Duke of Sussex writes in his memoir “Spare” that the media’s attacks on his then-girlfriend Meghan Markle in 2016 turned him against them. During a royal engagement, Harry imagined himself fighting off the media.

He jots: “I felt extremely anxious and resentful towards the press, and the press was now encircling me. identical royal reporters I regarded them all and mused, “Compliment.”” Harry then confesses that a needle poked him while he was thinking.

“The needle then pierced my finger. I observed the blood burst and thought of everyone who had ever referred to me and my family as “blue bloods,” including friends, complete strangers, fellow soldiers, journalists, writers, and classmates. I pondered the origins of that dated acronym for royalty and the aristocracy.”

He continues: “Our blood is supposedly blue because it is colder than other people’s blood, but that can not be true, can it? My family has always claimed that it is blue because we are unique, but that can not possibly be the case. I observed the nurse inject my blood into a test tube and remarked, “Red, like everyone else’s.”
