Naqvi says elements from Afghanistan are involved in attack on Chinese nationals

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that there is evidence that elements from Afghanistan are involved in the attack on Chinese residents in Pakistan.

Naqvi said the threats coming from the border are making the situation more complicated, adding that Chinese citizens were attacked by planning.

He maintained that the banned TTP is involved in terrorist incidents in the country.

Naqvi recalled that Pakistan has raised this issue before the Afghan interim government many times.

“We know which powers want to spoil China-Pak relations. Organizations like TTP are being used in the border areas,” Mohsin added.

The safety and security of the Chinese is very important to us, he said and added that the Prime Minister’s visit to China next month has much significance.

He further said that protection of our Chinese friends is the responsibility of the government of Pakistan. He said Afghan interim government has been asked to take action against terrorists operating from its soil.

“So far no good results have been obtained from Afghanistan and terrorists are taking advantage of the weak Afghan government,” Mohsin Naqvi regretted, adding that Pakistan has tightened security on the borders and has been supporting China on various forums.
