At the age of 113, the world’s oldest man Masazo Nonaka, died in Japan.

Masazo Nonaka died peacefully in his sleep at his home, a hot springs hotel on Hokkaido’s northern main island, according to his family.

According to his granddaughter, Yuko Nonaka, “We feel shocked at the loss of this big figure. He was, as usual, yesterday and passed away without causing our family any fuss at all.”

Mr. Nonaka, who is 112 years and 259 days old, was verified as the world’s oldest living man last year.

He was born on July 25, 1905, just a few months before Albert Einstein published his theory of special relativity, and he outlived all seven of his brothers, his wife, and three of his five children.

His favorite hobby was basking in the hot springs at the hotel his family has run in Ashoro for four generations.

Mr. Nonaka finally took over the operation of the traditional hot springs hotel, known as onsen ryokan in Japan, from his parents after growing up in a large family. His granddaughter is currently running the hotel, which has likewise endured the test of time, and is 106 years old.
