While homeowners in Queensland, Australians are used to seeing kangaroos near their houses; however, recently they were taken aback when they saw a kangaroo jumping on the roof of a house!

The kangaroo was first noticed by children playing in the Mount Isa area, atop a residence on Duchess Road. Locals had a difficult time convincing authorities that their call was real, according to the media.

Residents in the Mount Isa region of Queensland had a difficult time convincing authorities that their call was real.

“We thought it was a hoax when we got the call but sure enough, when we showed up, there it was on the roof,” Patrick Buck, a senior fireman with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, said (QFES). To assist the stranded animal, the rescuers went up wearing harnesses and carrying other equipment. The marsupial, on the other hand, “jumped down into some shrubs.”

While most first responders in other fire departments are normally called to save cats, the QFES had to step in to aid a kangaroo, according to photographs shared by the QFES.

The animal escaped, but it’s still unclear how it got there in the first place.

The rescuers reportedly had to approach the kangaroo with caution to avoid the animal collapsing in panic and injuring itself.

Paula Boon and Sue Carson, who operates a local animal rescue agency Paws Hoofs & Claws, told the media, “It was hot yesterday so we were concerned he was dehydrated and if he got scared and jumped down he might break a leg.”
