The first buds of cherry blossoms bloomed last week in Japan, signalling the start of the celebrated cherry blossom season.

As the pink flowers bloomed on trees along the streets and parks, people all around the country went out for their yearly cherry blossom viewing.

The cherry blossoms bloomed four days earlier than usual this year. Many people flocked to social media to share photos of the beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom.
