The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has called upon caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar in connection with the forced disappearance case of Baloch students.

The court, overseeing the implementation of recommendations from the force disappearance commission, expressed dissatisfaction with the ministerial committee’s report on the issue.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, expressing concern over discussing Balochistan’s rights while in Islamabad, highlighted the severity of the situation, emphasizing the irony and insult in the disappearance of people from the country. He criticized the matter, stating, “It’s all a joke.”

An assistant attorney general submitted a one-page report from the ministerial committee’s meeting, which Justice Kayani found unacceptable, deeming it shameful for the court.

The judge noted that both the prime minister and the interior minister hail from Balochistan, emphasizing that they should have recognized the significance of the issue involving Baloch students.

Consequently, the Islamabad High Court summoned the prime minister for an appearance on November 29.

In addition to the prime minister, the court has summoned the interior minister, defense minister, and interior secretary.

Despite the additional attorney general’s plea against summoning the prime minister and ministers, Justice Kayani issued a seven-day ultimatum to present the 55 missing Baloch students in accordance with the commission’s recommendations.

Failure to comply within the specified time frame would result in the prime minister’s mandatory appearance.
