Sales tax registration law must be abolished: Mohammad Kashif Chaudhry

The President of the Central Organization of Traders Pakistan, Mohammad Kashif Chaudhry, has said that the government and the FBR should abolish the law which maintain the sales tax registration, and accounts’ records of small businessmen.

According to details, addressing a meeting of business associations in Islamabad, President of the Central Organization of Traders Pakistan, Mohammad Kashif Chaudhry has said that only 72 hours have been left in the the deadline given to the FBR by the business community.

The countrywide traders’ convention, organised by Markazi Tanzeem-e-Tajiraan Pakistan [central traders’ organisation of Pakistan], criticised the government’s economic policies and the FBR’s documentation measures.

The president of the Central Organization of Traders Pakistan said that if the Charter of Demand and the demands of the traders were not approved then we will announce the dates of the shutter down.

Mohammed Kashif also said that the traders wanted Government to review the condition of seeking the computerised national identity card (CNIC) numbers of unregistered buyers and sales tax registration. Instead, they favoured the policy of fixed tax scheme for the traders.

He further said that the FBR is not taking the demands of the traders seriously. “We are not against the dialogue, but the time should not be wasted in the name of dialogue,” he added.

The traders further alleged that FBR has failed to convince the traders on the condition of seeking the CNIC numbers of unregistered buyers. He further said that the government continues to issuing notices at the markets instead of preventing the smuggling at the ports and borders.
