KARACHI: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has emphasised on increasing the bilateral trade between Pakistan and Oman, a statement said on Friday.

TDAP chief executive officer Arif Ahmed Khan in a meeting with the Omani delegation, led by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) chairman Engr Redha Al Saleh, informed about the improvement in ease-of-doing-business in Pakistan. Pakistan Ambassador to Oman K.K Ahsan Wagan also accompanied the delegation.

Chairman OCCI stated that the Pakistani business community could benefit from exporting to the US, as Oman has free trade agreements with the US. Oman is also looking for investment and joint ventures in mining, tourism, food security and logistics sectors under Oman’s Vision 2040.

TDAP secretary Ahsan Ali Mangi invited Omani certification and regulatory bodies to visit Pakistani food products companies, saying that TDAP will facilitate their visit.

He highlighted the successful visit of Jordanian and Egyptian inspectors for certifications which opened new markets for Pakistani companies.

K.K. Ahsan Wagan apprised the delegation about the importance of Pakistan’s geo-economics through increased connectivity and trade, while appreciating the Pakistani community in Oman, who contributes greatly to the Pakistani economy through remittances.
