KARACHI: Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) President Salman Aslam on Monday said that the political unrest may result in failure to meet export targets due to production constraints, a statement said.

The Kati president expressed concern over the instability in Pakistan’s politics and said that the instability is pushing the country backward economically.

“As a result, the country’s overall production capacity and export targets seem to be difficult to meet, while the uncertainty is exacerbating the economic situation,” he added.

Aslam said that after the formation of the present government, the artisans and traders were hopeful that the situation would improve, and at the beginning, there were positive signs.

Due to political instability and deteriorating law and order situation, the confidence of domestic and foreign investors are being undermined, he said, adding that the current irresponsible rhetoric is giving a negative impression of Pakistan at the international level.
