Smeda chief resignation distressing: Unisame

KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (Unisame) has expressed distress over the resignation of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) Chief Executive Officer Hashim Raza.
Unisame President Zulfikar Thaver in a message and also a phone call requested Raza not to take hasty decisions and leave the authority stranded without a CEO.
Raza expressed discontent with the state of affairs and was disheartened with the constitutional crisis created by the lawmakers who have in fact behaved like law breakers.
Thaver said that Raza was the best CEO the Smeda has ever had in many years and he does not need to be disheartened now that the matter is in the Supreme Court of Pakistan and things will be sorted out in the best interest of Pakistan and justice.
The country is proud of its superior judiciary and is confident that the matters will be put on track again and the constitution will prevail.
The Unisame president said that since the matter is subjudice, it is not right to comment but unfortunately the executives and the senior bureaucracy feels the vacuum and respectable executives and heads of organisations feel at a loss due to the current situation of the system.
He pointed out that even if the Raza is determined to resign he could not as per the articles of the authority, as he is supposed to submit his resignation to the federal minister of industries and right now there is no such minister or even caretaker minister or chairman Smeda.
The Unisame Council hòped that without any loss of time, the caretaker cabinet would be appointed to carry out the activities of the country.
